One of the most common types of heel pain, Plantar Fasciitis involves pain and inflammation of the thick band of tissue, called the plantar fascia, which runs across the bottom of the foot. It causes a stabbing pain that usually occurs with your very first steps in the morning.
Plantar Fasciitis is common in runners, people who are overweight, women who are pregnant, and those who wear shoes with inadequate support. It develops gradually and is most often seen in females and persons 40-60 years of age.
1- Stabbing pain in heel (usually affects one foot, but can occur in both).
2- Worst pain with first few steps after awakening, but can be triggered by long periods of standing or getting up from seated position.
