Kendal MartinPT, DPT
Kendal began her collegiate education at Virginia Tech, where she graduated in with her Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition Foods, and Exercise. While in college, she was also a catcher for Virginia Tech’s varsity softball team. Upon graduating in 2009, she went on to obtain her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Marymount University in Arlington, VA.
After completing her DPT degree in 2012, she began work in sports medicine outpatient orthopedics, with emphasis on running injuries, and optimizing functional movement patterns. From there, she followed her passion for working with children and sports-related injuries, working as a Sports Medicine Physical Therapist for the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in Chesapeake, VA. There she gained specialized experience in working with various sports related injuries, participated in research to optimize outcomes post ACL reconstruction, and facilitating safe return to sports in patients of all ages.
As a Roanoke native, she is excited to bring her experience and unique background to the Lucas Therapies family. She emphasizes individualized treatment plans, optimizing quality of life for every patient. She employs a mixture of therapeutic exercise and activity, manual therapy, and corrective exercise training to optimize healing time and patient satisfaction. Being dedicated to lifelong learning, Kendal is in the process of becoming an APTA Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist.
As a former athlete, Kendal loves sports, watching Hokies Football, and being outside. She also loves anything involving fitness and exercise, distance running, spending time with her family and her fur-babies Marley and Moose.
